Buyers who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows also reserved the game's first DLC. Now, players have a more precise timeframe for the Claws of Awaji release date. Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson revealed that the update could arrive as soon as September 2025. Also, fans have more information about a co-op multiplayer mode expected to debut in 2026.
Ubisoft already provided details about Claws of Awaji, which should add 10 hours of content to the game. The new missions will take place on the island of Awaji, where Naoe and Yasuke contend with the lurking Sanzoku Ippa faction. As they hunt treasure, players can also access new skills, gear, and weapons. Currently, the DLC is unavailable as a separate purchase, but that's likely to change closer to launch.
Ubisoft recently released its latest fiscal report, which showed a net loss of $178 million. As it shuffles its calendar, the company plans to delay several titles, including Far Cry 7. However, Henderson doesn't believe the postponements will slow the new Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC. The worst-case scenario is that the content doesn't arrive until October.
Insider Gaming also clarified Ubisoft's other plans for the game. The rumored co-op multiplayer mode, also known as "League" remains on track for 2026. Although Naoe and Yasuke seem like an obvious duo, the mode will involve other characters and storylines. For players hoping for a more chaotic experience, the standalone Invictus is still in development. Invictus could offer a Fall Guys-like experience with up to 18 competitors.
Assassin's Creed Shadows has been a much-needed sales success for Ubisoft. Besides the Claws of Awaji DLC, Ubisoft's roadmap for the game involves free updates with new missions and various gameplay tweaks.
