Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched last month and is doing quite well with Mostly Positive reviews on Steam. Developers at Ubisoft are hard at work trying to further polish the game and also release new content. Besides regular story drops and parkour updates, it will also get its first expansion this year that will be free for those who pre-ordered the game.
Starting with story updates, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get free quests showcasing some fan-favorite characters, new Animus content, new immersion customization options, difficulty settings, and more. In early May, there will be a new free quest called “The works of Luis Frois,” along with some codex updates and quality of life improvements. Later in the month, the first special collaboration will show up in the game and something that fans have been requesting – parkour updates. These include back ejects, side ejects, and vertical ledge jump. The photo mode will also be updated with new expressions and more.
Then in June, there will be another free quest and a new ally, gameplay improvements, and the ability to remove headgear in cutscenes. These updates will be followed by the New Game+ mode, more story drops, new rewards, and community feedback updates.
For those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the first expansion called “Claws of Awaji” will be a free download. Coming later this year, it will add a new island to the world that will be accessible right after the epilogue. Naoe will also get a new weapon, the Bo staff.
It is still fairly early in the game’s lifecycle so this level of support is expected, but it is comforting to see that the developers are listening to the community and implementing ways to improve gameplay. Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been a huge success for Ubisoft and it is reportedly coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
