Late last month (June 30), it was reported that a new Ghost Recon game is in development with a release planned for 2026. Now, it looks like Ubisoft has confirmed the project during a shareholder meeting. There are no official details available about the new Ghost Recon game but the leak from June does provide some insight on what can be expected.
The shareholder meeting (via Game File) took place on July 10 so the confirmation went under the radar for a couple weeks. During the meeting, Ubisoft leadership was questioned by the shareholders about current and upcoming projects. Company CEO Yves Guillemot spoke about upcoming launches and mentioned a Ghost Recon game, to which CFO Frederick Duguet added (via Push Square) that Ghost Recon is just one example of the first-person-shooter-type-games at Ubisoft.
There hasn’t been an official announcement for a new Ghost Recon game just yet but the leadership has name dropped the project, effectively confirming its development. This brings us back to the leak from late June stating that the game is moving to alpha this year. It claimed that the project is codenamed Ovr and will be a tactical shooter like Ready or Not or somewhat similar to the Modern Warfare series.
It is said to be a first-person military simulation (mil-sim) revolving around a fictional ‘Naiman war.’ As for the release date, it is speculated that it will take about 12 months from internal alpha to final release so we could see the game arrive in Fall 2026.
Besides mentioning the name, no other information was provided by the company during the shareholder meeting that raised concerns about the controversy around Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the Stop Killing Games petition.
