The last game in the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise came out in 2013. Now, 12 years later, fans could see a new addition to the series at Summer Game Fest. The teaser comes directly from Ubisoft but it is unclear exactly what the company is hinting at. Summer Game Fest is scheduled for June 6 and Ubisoft will be one of the partners, along with Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo.
The Ubisoft account on Xcancel shared an image of Sam Fisher, the protagonist of the Splinter Cell franchise, along with eyes and mouth emojis. The post doesn’t mention anything else, but it is believed that the company is teasing a remake. Fans seem to be responding positively, hoping that the company actually reveals a new Splinter Cell game. As mentioned earlier, the last game was Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and it came out in 2013.
It is likely that Ubisoft is teasing a remake of the first Splinter Cell game that has been talked about since December 2021. After the original announcement, the director of the game left Ubisoft in October 2022 and the project was seemingly put on hold. Now, finally, it could be unveiled at Summer Game Fest in early June.
The possibility of it being a brand-new game in the series is unlikely since Sam Fisher was a bit older in Blacklist compared to the image shared by Ubisoft. Furthermore, Ubisoft is also delaying major game releases due to disappointing 2024-2025 financial reports. Regardless, fans are eager to see what the company has in store for them when it comes to the Splinter Cell franchise.
