Summer Game Fest took place yesterday, and many video games were announced by various developers. But the first to be unveiled by Geoff Keighley got the conference off to a good start. Five years after the release of the first opus, a sequel mixing Elden Ring and God of War was put forward.
Mortal Shell II took center stage at the opening of the conference, revealing a universe as dark and murky as that of Elden Ring. But the brutal gameplay featured in the trailer is reminiscent of God of War, with Kratos unleashing his fury against enemies from a variety of mythologies. The icing on the cake is that metal fans will recognize the black metal band Behemoth accompanying the trailer.
And if you've always wanted to play a violent game, taking out your rage on enemies and feeling a sense of power, this new opus could be just what you're looking for. Indeed, in the trailer, you can see some impressive and very violent finish moves that will bring you satisfaction in slaughtering your enemies.
It's also worth noting that most of the monsters and creatures present in Mortal Shell II appear to be difficult to defeat, adding an extra layer of difficulty to your gameplay. But that's without counting on the main character, who also boasts an impressive arsenal, including two-handed clubs, swords as big as this one and rifles capable of taking down every opponent.
However, if you're interested in Mortal Shell II, you'll have to wait until 2026 to play it on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. But the developers are also thinking about players who don't like to wait, and have announced a beta, which will open later and for which you can already register on the game's official website. It should also be noted that this will enable the developers to refine their game thanks to player feedback, and to offer a new opus worthy of the name on its official release.
