Nightreign takes Elden Ring's lush open world and adds a roguelike twist on top of it. You and up to three players choose from one of the eight pre-made characters and explore a randomized portion of Elden Ring's open world for three in-game days.
At the end of each day, you fight a miniboss and upgrade before you fight your main target on the third. You choose a target to hunt before each session begins, and each day lasts for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how much you explore.
Similar to Battle Royale games, the area you explore will keep shrinking as you explore, but defeating a miniboss at the end of each day will reset it. Since this is a roguelike, death means having to start over unless one of your party members can revive you. If everyone in your party dies, you start from the beginning.
Early reviews for the game have been positive, with a solid critic score of 77 on Metacritic and a 'Mixed' user review rating on Steam. The criticisms so far center on the primary gameplay loop, which feels Call of Duty-like rather than a co-op soulslike. The story is also very short and not that interesting.
You can grab the Steam and the Xbox version on Newegg.
