FromSoftware's award-winning open-world RPG Elden Ring needs little introduction. Not only did the game win numerous accolades, like the coveted Game of the Year award, it introduced the Souls-like genre to many first-timers. And if the game wasn't for you, its movie might be.
On its X handle, Bandai Namco has announced an Elden Ring movie is in development. The live-action film will be co-developed by Bandai Namco, A24 Films and award-winning director Alex Garland. This will undoubtedly cause a stir among the community because live-action movies haven't done too well in recent history.
Expectations will be sky-high because Elden Ring has a passionate fan base. As of now, there's no release timeline, and looking at the lack of promotional material, it may be at least a year or two away from launch. Now that the cat is out of the bag, a trailer should ideally drop in the coming weeks.
Even though it is not explicitly spelled out and hidden in skill/item descriptions, Elden Ring has a rich story. After all, George RR Martin helped with the world building. In fact, anyone familiar with the story might argue there's far too much for just one movie, but that isn't necessarily bad.
