Avex Music has launched the BRTNAP portable CD/DVD player crowdfunding campaign on Green Funding in Japan. The portable player is designed for music and movie lovers who collect physical media and want to enjoy them anywhere. The company has managed top J-Pop stars for decades, including Namie Amuro, Gackt, Globe, and Koda Kumi, and has expanded its initial focus on music to movies, anime, and technology.
The Brtnap is a thick, monolithic tablet player that does not need to be flipped open for use. The player measures 145 x 191 x 21 to 25 mm (5.71 x 7.52 x 0.83 to 0.98 in.) and weighs only 500 grams (1.1 lbs.), allowing for one-handed portable use. The built-in battery provides a runtime of 3.5 hours and recharges using a USB-C power supply in 5 hours.
The upper half has a flush 5-inch 854 x 480 LCD display capable of 450 cd/m2 brightness. Physical buttons located above and below the display control the player. The monitor can be switched off at night when listening to just the audio track.
Users can use the built-in stereo speakers at home or connect 3.5 mm wired and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless headphones outdoors. Televisions can be connected to the HDMI 1.4 output port. For busy owners, the Brtnap can play media at twice the normal speed for faster enjoyment of educational discs and movies.
Interested readers can fund the project at Green Funding for as low as 29,584 yen (~$208) with the super early bird discount, which is 20% off the full price of 36,980 (~$260). Delivery to addresses in Japan is scheduled for September 2025.
