Casio launches wild GA-V01 G-Shock watches in US market
Casio has launched the GA-V01 series G-Shock watches in the US market after their initial debut in China earlier this year. The GA-V01 was designed by Tomohiro Hamaue, who fell in love with G-Shocks after seeing the DW-9000 in elementary school. The bold, futuristic design was a stand-out aspect and something he wanted to bring to the latest series of Casio watches. The new series embodies the toughness of G-Shock watches through four characters that express it through their activities like skateboarding.
The bold, organic design starts with the index bumper, where the decorative elements have been minimized to allow the protective parts to stand out. Spherical mineral glass protects the watch module to 200 meters (656 ft.) under water. Shock Release Hands, larger than the norm for G-Shock watches, are magnetically attached to the drive shaft and contribute to the oversized design of the watch. This new attachment method also eliminates hand breakage under strong impacts.
The reversed colors of the LCD screen is visible behind the hands and provides access to standard features, such as a 31-zone world time, 5 daily alarms, a stopwatch, and a timer. The watch is powered by a CR2025 battery for 10 years.
