Upgraded Switch 2 specs have made demanding third-party titles an option. Nintendo didn't showcase Assassin's Creed Shadows at the April 2nd Direct, but rumors predict a port nonetheless. Now, the Ubisoft game has received a PEGI age rating, fueling anticipation of an official announcement.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is among the most popular searches on the PEGI site. While the game has a Nintendo Switch 2 label on the front page, it doesn't show when clicking on the game. That could suggest an error in the database, or the site hasn't been fully updated. Nevertheless, reports about Assassin's Creed Shadows becoming a Switch 2 game started as far back as 2024.
Nash Weedle indicated that Ubisoft's action RPG would be a Switch 2 launch title in Summer 2024. Then, earlier in 2025, a NatetheHate leak revealed that the publisher was bringing more than a dozen games to the console. The Assassin's Creed Shadows release date suffered another delay last year, so it's understandable why it wasn't a launch title. With Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws arriving on the handheld on September 4th, an Assassin's Creed Shadows announcement may be imminent.
Nintendo can welcome ports with cutting-edge graphics thanks to a faster GPU as part of enhanced Switch 2 specs. Meanwhile, Ubisoft will be anxious to continue the momentum started by Assassin's Creed Shadows. Although the company was struggling financially, the title produced impressive sales numbers.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is Steam Deck Verified, but players often have to significantly lower settings to achieve 30 fps. After Cyberpunk 2077 demos showed some gains over the Valve handheld, gamers are anxious to see how it would perform on the Switch 2.
