After much speculation, Xbox consoles are more expensive across the globe. The 512 GB Series S now costs $379.99 instead of $299, while the 1 TB Series X is $599.99. Microsoft also adjusted the prices of other console models, first-party games, and accessories.

Xbox console sales are struggling, but Microsoft is significantly raising prices anyway. A prominent French retailer hiked the cost of the Xbox Series X and S overnight, which predicted the widespread increases. Among the changes, Microsoft has announced that the Series S (512 GB) price has jumped from $299.99 to $379.99. The Series X (1TB) is now $599.99 rather than $499.99. Gamers can expect to pay more for some first-party games and accessories.

Microsoft is also recommending that retailers adjust the prices of its other consoles. The 1 TB version of the Xbox Series S is now a staggering $429.99. Buyers will pay more for the Xbox Series X Digital, which demands a $549.99 investment. Finally, the 2 TB Galaxy Black Series X becomes even more expensive than the PS5 Pro, at $729.99.

Buyers in other regions will also encounter pricier Xbox consoles. The 512 GB Series S is £299.99 in the UK and €349.99 in Europe. Meanwhile, the 1 TB Series X will cost €599.99/£499.99.

The higher prices aren't just confined to consoles. Microsoft revealed that starting this holiday season, some first-party games will be $79.99 instead of $69.99. The popular stock Xbox controller is no longer so appealing, with a $64.99 price tag. Similarly, Microsoft's wireless headset will see an MSRP of $119.99

The unwelcome news comes after a Microsoft Gaming earnings report that confirmed declining hardware sales. However, the company is benefiting from cross-platform publishing efforts and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

Microsoft hasn't provided an explanation for the changes, but they follow the higher Sony PS5 price in Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Like with the PlayStation, Chinese factories manufacture most Xbox consoles. The country faces at least 145% tariffs on US imports, leading to some consumer electronics brands pausing shipments.
