Deal | Microsoft selectively discounts Xbox Series X up to 50% after price increase on consoles

As the PS5 dominates sales, discounts on Xbox consoles have become scarce. However, there are signs that Microsoft is again trying to convince buyers to support its hardware. Pure Xbox reported that the company is slashing the price of the Xbox Series X for fortunate gamers.
Who is eligible for the Just For You promotion?
Unfortunately, it appears that the campaign mainly caters to Xbox Series One owners in the United States. Redditor yeahdontcareforkarma revealed that offers are “based on factors such as subscription, usage, or purchase behavior.” Nevertheless, some fans dismayed by the October 2025 price increase are now considering upgrading.
Gamers can see if the Just For You promotion is available by browsing the Microsoft Store app. Discounts vary, with price cuts of 17% to 50% on disc and digital versions of the Series X. In one case, the 1TB Robot White discless system was reduced from $600 to $300.
The last Xbox price increase saw the 1TB Carbon Black Series X jump from $599 to $649.99. That compounded a previous increase in May 2025, which had inflated its $499.99 launch MSRP. The manufacturer blamed challenging macroeconomic conditions. Considering the more recent memory shortage, widespread discounts seemed unlikely.
Contending with tariffs, the PS5 also costs buyers more than it did in 2020. Still, Sony has advertised more sales, particularly during the holiday season. It’s not surprising that Xbox console adoption has plummeted while its rival thrives.
Reasons for the sudden Xbox Series X price break
Followers are debating whether Microsoft is clearing out inventory or recommitting to its current-gen hardware. After taking over as the Gaming CEO, Asha Sharma emphasized the importance of consoles. Since Project Helix aims to be compatible with Series X|S games, the company may hope to secure more future upgrades.
At the same time, rumors suggest the Project Helix will be a hybrid running Windows. Critics question whether console users will embrace the system given its gaming PC-like qualities.
