Deal | Post-apocalyptic shooter with 90% positive reviews drops below $1 on Steam for the first time

Metro: Last Light is set in the year 2034 beneath the ruins of Moscow, where the last survivors of a devastating nuclear war endure in the tunnels of the metro system. Players step into the role of Artyom, who becomes caught in the middle of an escalating conflict over the future of this underground refuge. In addition to rival factions, roaming mutants pose a constant threat. The result is a grim scenario that effectively blends apocalyptic atmosphere, political violence and oppressive survival horror.
In gameplay terms, the first-person shooter combines a strong story focus with survival, stealth and direct action. Alongside all previously released DLC, the Redux version also includes numerous technical and gameplay improvements. Players can also choose between two play styles, Survival and Spartan, which place greater emphasis either on resource scarcity and horror or on more action-heavy combat. Ranger Mode raises the tension even further with scarcer supplies and deadlier enemies.

In GameStar’s German review, the Redux version of Metro: Last Light impressed above all with its gripping story and dense atmosphere. The visual overhaul was also well received by the testers. Criticism, however, focused on the limited gameplay innovations and the somewhat brighter look compared to the original. In the end, GameStar awarded the game a strong score of 87 out of 100.
On Metacritic, the title holds a Metascore of 76 and a User Score of 7.9. The verdict from the Steam community is even more positive, however: 90% of more than 75,000 user reviews are favorable.
95% discount on Steam for the first time
Metro: Last Light Redux was developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver. The shooter was released in August 2014 and usually costs around $20 on Steam. A 95% discount cuts the price to $0.99 until March 26. According to SteamDB, discounts of up to 90% had previously been common, most recently at the end of February. The current offer therefore marks a new all-time low. On the Steam Deck, the game is rated as "Verified."
