Microsoft has started testing new Xbox Insider console features, including up to 10 Home groups, custom user colors, per-game Quick Resume controls, and profile badges in the Guide.

Microsoft has started testing a new set of Xbox Series S/X console customization features with select Xbox Insiders, including more Home groups, custom user colors, Quick Resume controls, and profile badge visibility in the Guide. The company announced the changes on March 18, 2026, and says the features will first reach select Insiders before expanding more broadly over time.

Home gets more room for pinned groups

One of the biggest changes in the update is a major expansion to Home group customization. Microsoft says Xbox users can now add up to 10 groups on Home instead of the previous limit of 2. The company also says group management has been simplified, with reordering now using the same experience as rearranging games on Home. In My Games & Apps, Microsoft says it has also made it easier to pin groups and to see which ones are already added.

Xbox adds custom colors beyond the standard system palette

Microsoft is also introducing custom console colors, letting users move beyond the built-in system color presets. According to the company, Xbox Insiders can use sliders to create a more specific color and shade, and the selected tone can also appear as a subtle accent in the Guide. That accent can be turned off in Settings> General > Personalization> Customize the guide. Microsoft says it will save the last custom selection if a user returns to a default system color, and adds that custom colors will be visible to other Insiders first before rolling out to everyone with the April update.

Quick Resume settings now work on a per-game basis

The update also adds a more flexible Quick Resume option. Microsoft says players can now disable Quick Resume for individual games, targeting titles that may not perform well after extended periods of inactivity. The setting can be accessed either from the More options menu on a game tile in the Quick Resume group or through Manage game and add-ons.

Microsoft is also surfacing profile badges more prominently in the Guide. When viewing a profile, players will now see the five most recently unlocked badges, making milestones easier to spot while browsing Xbox profiles.
