After years of waiting, Xbox players can now dive into both Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy XVI. Square Enix confirmed during the Xbox Games Showcase that Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC, while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will arrive this winter. This marks the completion of the franchise's multiplatform rollout, with every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game and Final Fantasy XIV Online now accessible on Xbox platforms.
Final Fantasy XVI supports Xbox Play Anywhere and includes both post-launch DLC chapters, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, at a discounted price. Players can also try a free demo, with progress carrying over to the full game. In-game bonuses include iconic weapons and items such as the Blood Sword, Braveheart Sword, Cait Sith's Charm and more. Square Enix has made the official Final Fantasy XVI trailer available, highlighting its release on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. The trailer is, however, subject to an age restriction on YouTube, requiring users to log in to view the content.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade includes the Yuffie-focused DLC, Episode INTERmission, a two-chapter side story set in Midgar during the events of the main game. The title was awarded RPG of the Year at The Game Awards 2020 and has sold over seven million copies across other platforms.
Both games support Xbox Play Anywhere, offering cross-buy and cross-save between console and PC.
Fan reactions were enthusiastic. One player commented, "About dang time! Obviously hope the 2nd and 3rd game come to Xbox as well. I'll be snagging this ASAP." Another added, "Enjoy Xbox players. I loved my time with FF16 last year, the combat is unfortunately simplistic despite looking flashy, but the game has charmed me from start to finish."
Xbox players can now return to Midgar with Cloud, Tifa, Barret and Red XIII or face off against colossal Eikons as Clive in Valisthea. It took some patience, but the Chocobo has finally landed.
