Fans have been anticipating the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 since a 2024 interview with Motomu Toriyama. The director and writer shared progress on the game and hinted that more news could come by the Ever Crisis 2nd anniversary. With Square Enix hosting a September 5th livestream, a voice actor update has provided more hope for an announcement.
As noticed by Twisted Voxel, the actor who voiced Genesis in two Final Fantasy games shared news on social media. The Japanese celebrity Gackt posted a picture of a studio, saying it seemed like he hadn’t worked in the location for over 10 years. Some gamers believe Gackt is recording lines for an appearance in the Ever Crisis gacha game. Still, Square Enix may also plan to feature Genesis in the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
The most prominent role for Genesis was in the 2007 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7. The Soldier 1st Class also made an appearance in the third-person shooter, Dirge of Cerberus. While he wasn’t a factor in the original Final Fantasy 7, writers have brought other characters to the expanded Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth.
Early in 2025, director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that the story for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 was finished. There have also been other voice actor leaks suggesting that an announcement may happen soon. Cody Christian, who voices Cloud Strife, posted and deleted an Instagram post showing him in a recording studio. A small illustration of the popular Final Fantasy character raised expectations further.
Some followers speculate that voice recordings for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 are already complete. These recordings usually happen later in the production process. Gackt may be teasing a part in another Final Fantasy game, but the September 5th livestream will hopefully clear up any confusion.
