Epic Games Store is currently offering two free games for PC, and as we have covered, this last giveaway for August 2025 will also be available for some time in September 2025. After it expires, which will happen on September 04 at UTC 15:00, the free game section on the storefront will see another refresh.
The storefront has also confirmed what it has planned for the next PC giveaway, and as Epic Games Store has confirmed, two free games will replace the current freebies on September 04, 2025: Monument Valley and The Battle of Polytopia.
Among the two, Monument Valley is a puzzle game that's developed by indie developer Ustwo Games. After its release in 2014, the title has received multiple awards, including one from The Game Awards 2017. It puts players in mazes that are composed of optical illusions and challenging geometric structures.
One of the key highlights is the design elements of the game, and the visual style is often compared to the title Echochrome and the work of M. C. Escher. Beyond the artistic design, this soon-to-be free game on Epic Games Store is known for its poetic interactive experience. The title goes for $7.99 when there are no discounts in place, and it currently sports an "Overwhelmingly Positive" player rating on Steam.
As for The Battle of Polytopia, it's a 4X turn-based strategy game that's from Midjiwan AB. Released in 2016, it puts players in a procedurally generated world, and the main goal is to control a tribe to build an empire. To do so, they are tasked to conquer tribes that are across the map, upgrade cities, research technologies, and produce military units.
While this upcoming free game on Epic Games Store is known for its strategic depth, the gameplay is regarded as simple. There's support for controllers (8Bitdo Ultimate 2C wired curr. $15.99 on Amazon), and it has single-player with AI, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer modes. The Battle of Polytopia generally goes for $14.99 when there's no sale in place, and it currently boasts a "Very Positive" player rating on Steam.
