Final Fantasy fans are searching for any signs that the franchise will appear at The Game Awards. There is more excitement after a gamer noticed activity on the Square Enix YouTube channel. Now, the speculation is that the hidden video will introduce the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi has hinted that the trilogy's conclusion is progressing rapidly.
The YouTube playlist showcases trailers promoting major additions to the popular RPG series. A video for the Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail expansion was the last new selection, posted in 2024. Publishers will often prepare content in advance, but keep the media unlisted until reveals. That said, gamers have seen similar private entries from Rockstar that didn’t result in a new GTA 6 trailer.
What are the chances of a Part 3 reveal?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is perhaps the most likely Square Enix project to surface at The Game Awards. In an October interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze, Hamaguchi provided more positive updates. Addressing revamped gameplay, he confirmed that the “new experience the game will offer is almost complete.” Development is ongoing, but the director expects to make more information public “soon”, which may include its title.
Hamaguchi also commented on Geoff Keighley’s event during the interview. When the topic of the defunct E3 came up, he agreed that The Game Awards was now the most popular attraction. Referring to Part 3, the Square Enix veteran explained that “It would be a good place for this kind of announcement, yes...”
Past entries in the trilogy have been featured prominently during the broadcast. In 2023, a new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer debuted before the title took home the Most Anticipated Game award.
Other Final Fantasy games in development
Some gamers may expect the hidden video to market Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Switch 2 and PC users will be able to play the game on January 22, 2026. However, the Square Enix YouTube playlist does not consist of any previously announced ports.
Despite fading optimism, fans also remain desperate for a Final Fantasy 9 remake. Still, after NateTheHate2 suggested in October that the project was on hold, a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 trailer seems more realistic.
