The 2026 Subaru Uncharted that will be released in the US next quarter will be priced from just $34,990, or five grand lower than the cheapest Tesla Model Y.
Subaru and Tesla craft the most fuel-efficient vehicles offered in the US, and the Model Y competitor offers a similar range of over 300 miles despite being way cheaper. The Uncharted comes with a NACS charging port, as well as FWD, AWD, and GT models.
Needless to say, the dual-motor versions come with Subaru's renowned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE Dual-Mode systems that have taken many a Subaru owner out of sticky off-road situations.

Subaru says that the Uncharted SUV release date in the US is set for Q1 with a price that makes it its cheapest electric vehicle ever and one of the cheapest in its category in the US. At this price, Subaru equipped the Uncharted with a 75 kWh battery and a powertrain system that can bring it from 10% to 80% charge in 28 minutes.
Subaru being Subaru, it made sure that the SUV is as reliable in the winter as it is in balmy temps and developed a dedicated battery preconditioning feature allowing the Uncharted to maintain the same charging time even in freezing weather. The all-weather package that is typical for Subaru and includes heated everything is also standard on all trims, as is the interior LED lighting.
The Subaru Uncharted frame is made of light steel with great tensile strength, while the battery pack under the floor helps with structural rigidity and brings a low center of gravity that allows "impressive straight-line stability, handling, and grip on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, or snow through extensive chassis development for the Uncharted."
The standard EyeSight driver-assist system may not be Tesla FSD, but it does help with features like Pre-Collision Braking, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitors, Lane Departure Alert, Emergency Stop Assist, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, as well as the Driver Focus system to prevent distractions or drowsiness.
It did have to cut some corners to achieve this low price, such as StarTex or cloth upholstery, as well as a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch LCD gauge, but the highest GT trim is as premium as the rest of them. It comes with a glass roof with automatic shade, vented front and heated rear seats, a Harman Kardon speaker set, a digital rearview mirror, and low-profile roof rails for hauling camping gear.
The GT trim can also be had in a two-tone version, mixing and matching the standard Coastal Wolf Gray Metallic, Habanero Orange Metallic, Cosmic White Pearl, Astro Black Mica, and Metropolis Gray colors. Last but not least, the Subaru Uncharted crossover comes with over 25 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk despite being shorter than the Solterra.
