The Boost Bike has been announced for the UK market. Boost already sells e-bike conversion kits for Brompton and full-size bicycles, products which were crowdfunded on Indiegogo several years ago.
Now, the company has unveiled the Boost Mini Bike, a model which it describes as a compact, “grown up’s BMX”. It will be available as a pedal-only bicycle, or it can become an e-bike when fitted with the brand’s Boost e-bike conversion kit. This includes a 250W 42 Nm torque rear motor and a 7Ah battery for up to 35 miles (~56 km) assistance range. Another customization option is the wheel color.
The Boost Mini is equipped with Clarks Clout hydraulic disc brakes (160 mm rotor), 8-speed Shimano gears and an 11-32 cassette. Plus, it has grippy 20 x 1.75-inch Kenda Khan II tires suited to tarmac or light off-roading. It has a BMX-style, 640mm wide, 140mm rise handlebar, and the frame’s Boost Twist Stem can turn up to 90°, with a quick-release lever enabling users to fold the bike flat. Both the handlebars and pedals can fold flat, making the bike easier to store at just 25 cm (~9.8 inches) wide; when folded, it measures 150 x 110 x 25 cm (~59.1 x 43.3 x 9.1 inches). Despite its small size, the Boost Mini bike is said to suit riders measuring 4’11” to 6’2” (150 to 187 cm) tall.
The pricing and release date of the Boost Bike have yet to be announced. The company has teased a “limited” pre-order discount for early customers; you can sign up for launch notifications on the brand’s website.
