Huawei is now preparing to launch its second tri-foldable smartphone before Samsung even announces its long-rumoured first-generation alternative. Covered separately, Huawei has revealed what its Mate XT successor looks like while also poking fun at Samsung in the process. While the Mate XTs is not arriving until September 4, leaker Digital Chat Station has already moved onto the company's next tablet release.
Seemingly, the tablet in question is the same one that Digital Chat Station mentioned over a month ago. To recap, the leaker suggested in mid-July that Huawei was developed a compact flagship tablet to rival those like the iPad mini 7, Lenovo Legion Y700 (4th Gen), Redmi K Pad and RedMagic Astra (curr. $699 on Amazon).
At the time, Digital Chat Station asserted that the tablet also featured an 8.8-inch OLED display. Now, they assert that the same model has passed network certification. Allegedly codenamed McLaren, the prototype is said to feature a 5G capable chipset with Star Flash connectivity, possibly the N-1 Kirin 9 series platform. While Digital Chat Station adds that the unnamed MatePad tablet will arrive in black, white, and green finishes, they have not hinted at when the device will be available.
