Xiaomi unveils HyperOS 3 while confirming dozens of devices will receive beta access
Xiaomi has now launched its next major HyperOS update after teasing it yesterday. As expected, Xiaomi has named its new update HyperOS 3, which it promises overhauls the HyperOS platform in several areas.
For one, the company claims to have increased gaming performance by upwards of 15% while reducing power consumption and GPU usage by about 9% and 10%, respectively. Moreover, the new update is said to deliver 21% faster app responsiveness with over 100 new or improved animations, too.
On top of that, Xiaomi has refined HyperOS in other areas, including its lockscreen. For example, HyperOS 3 offers new designs and the option to generate alternative looks for photos or videos that can be applied as lockscreen wallpapers. Furthermore, Xiaomi has added Mac and iPad mirroring with a modern MacBook Pro shown in promotional materials (curr. $1,699 on Amazon).
Arguably, another feature borrowed from Apple is 'Super Island', a shortcut-based system that shares the same design and features as Apple's Dynamic Island on recent iPhones. While Xiaomi has not shared a full HyperOS 3 release list yet or when its new OS update will reach stable status, the following devices will receive beta access in the coming weeks:
