Xiaomi launches two new TV boxes with HyperOS

The Xiaomi Mi Box 5 and the Xiaomi Mi Box 5 Max have been launched in China. These smart home products support an up to 4K resolution and are compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The difference between the two models is the built-in storage, with the Max offering up to 64 GB.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Box 5 and the Mi Box 5 Max in China. These devices provide a way for you to upgrade an older TV, allowing you to access a range of streaming services and other apps on the connected device.

The Mi Box 5 and Mix Box 5 Max support a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution with an AI image enhancement tool and Dolby Vision compatibility. For sound, there is support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6. Plus, Xiaomi HyperOS allow the TV box to connect to various Xiaomi smart home products. Other features include support for the Xiao AI voice assistant, which can help you plan a trip or a training plan, and an NFC tap-to-screen share feature.

They are powered by the same quad-core A55 processor and Mali-G310 V2 CPU. However, the Mi Box 5 has 2+32GB storage, and the Mi Box 5 Max has 4+64GB storage. Both boxes measure 97 x 97.1 x 17 mm (~3.8 x 3.8 x 0.67 inches). Alonsgide the power input are HDMI and USB 2.0 ports.

The Xiaomi Mi Box 5 and Mi Box 5 Max are available in China for CNY 299 (~$41) and CNY 499 (~$69), respectively. It is unclear whether or when a version of these products could launch in other markets like Europe, where the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen is currently available for €69.90 (Amazon.de).
