As previously announced, the Anker Nebula X1 has now hit the European market and is now available at several retailers including Amazon Germany for €2,999. Thanks to a coupon code, early adopters can take advantage of a €500 launch discount that will be granted until May 30th. The US launch is scheduled for May 21st.
With that out of the way, the Nebula X1 is a powerful projector that comes in a rather unusual design. It has an adjustable and tiltable lens thanks to a micro-gimbal, which adds some flexibility in addition to a projection ratio that can be adjusted between 0.9 and 1.5:1. According to Anker, it offers a projection size of up to 300 inches. A single press of a button is enough to adjust the 4K projector to the room and projection surface. This feature has a memory function and doesn’t scan rooms twice. Automatic keystone correction and obstacle avoidance are onboard as well.
The Nebula X1 utilizes a total of three lasers, which supposedly offer a brightness of up to 3,500 ANSI lumens. Anker further claims that the DCI-P3 color is covered by 110%, while the color accuracy is listed as Delta E ≤ 0.8. The contrast ratio is 5,000:1, while the resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels is probably achieved via pixel shifting.
Google TV serves as the operating system and provides access to numerous streaming apps. Alternatively, external sources can be connected via HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C and an optical audio output are also available. The projector can be hooked up to wireless speakers as well. Last but not least, the new Nebula X1 measures roughly 11 x 7.3 x 9.7 inches, weighs almost 14 lbs and sports a water-cooling system, which should result in comparatively low noise emissions.
