New Philips Hue Aurelle cheaper smart ceiling lights coming soon
Three new Philips Hue Aurelle smart ceiling lights are on the way to Europe. Designed for use in a living room, kitchen or bathroom, the product has been available for some time, with round, square and rectangular panels on offer.
The new Aurelle Hue Round Panel Light will be available with a white aluminum frame. Many of its features are the same as those of the older round ceiling light, with 2,450 lumens brightness at 4,000K and an LED light source with a 25,000-hour life expectancy. However, it is slightly thicker, measuring 39.5 x 4.8 cm (~1.6 x 0.18 inches) rather than 39.5 x 4.7 cm (~1.6 x 0.19 inches). The main benefit is with the price; the new Philips Aurelle Hue Round Panel Light is priced at £129.99/€149.99, while its predecessor cost £159.99/€179.99.
The other new products are the Aurelle Rectangle Panel in black and white. Like with the Round ceiling light above, this new version is almost identical to the original. It has an LED light source, expected to run for up to 25,000 hours, and delivers 3,570 lumens of luminous flux at 4000 K. Again, there is a difference in size, with the new version measuring 120 x 30 x 4.8 cm (~4.7 x 1.2 x 0.2 inches), making it 2 mm (~0.08 inches) thicker. The latest Aurelle Rectangle Panel is also cheaper, with a £169.99/€199.99 RRP, lower than the £219.99/€239.99 RRP of the older variant.
All of the new ceiling lights are dimmable Hue White Ambiance lights with a color temperature adjustable between 2,200 K and 6,500 K and a Color Rendering Index (CRI) greater than 80. With Bluetooth and Zigbee communication protocols, they can be remotely controlled with the Philips Hue app and linked to other devices via the Hue Bridge.
On the Philips Hue website, these products are marked as out of stock, with no indication as to when they could launch. The Philips Hue Aurelle smart lighting panels have yet to launch in the US.
