A crowdfunding campaign for the Boost by La Vita e-bike conversion kit is live. The kit includes a rear-wheel mounted motor, battery and smart display. The engine can assist you at speeds up to 15.5 mph (~25 kph) for around 50 km (~31 miles). You can configure settings on the handlebar display or in an accompanying app.

The Boost e-bike conversion kit by La Vita is currently crowdfunding on Indiegogo. The kit includes a rear wheel with an integrated motor, battery and handlebar display. The 250 W motor, with over 350 W peak power, can assist you at speeds up to 15.5 mph (~25 kph). The company claims that having the motor at the rear increases stability and provides a smoother ride.

The 216 Wh battery delivers up to 50 km (~31 miles) of assistance range, weighing 1.5 kg (~3.3 lbs). The power pack fits your bike frame like a water bottle and holder and can be secured with a key-operated lock. With an integrated charge level indicator, you can fully recharge the battery in four hours. Plus, a built-in USB port enables you to power lights or charge your smartphone. You can use the display to control the bicycle’s settings; alternatively, you can configure the bike with an app available for Android and iOS devices. The kit is compatible with many bike models, with the option to customize the rear-wheel motor to your cassette or cog speed, wheel size and spoke color.

Both the battery and motor are covered by a 2,000 km (~1,243 miles) warranty. You can currently receive the Boost e-bike conversion kit when you pledge £549 (~US$620) to the Indiegogo campaign; the gadget is expected to retail for £745 (~US$842) in the future. The first wave of the product is expected to ship in November, with a second batch launching in February. At this time, the company is only sending the device to customers in the UK; it is unclear whether or when the product could launch in other markets.
