VELLO SUB e-bike arrives with 250 km range and 600 W peak power
The VELLO SUB, or Smart Utility Bike, is now crowdfunding on Indiegogo. The lightweight e-cargo bike has been designed for city dwellers, with space for two passengers and a front rack. The SUB can bear loads up to 210 kg (~463 lbs), and the company claims it is one of the lightest e-bikes of its kind; the titanium model weighs around 24 kg (~53 lbs) and the Chromoly steel version is slightly heavier at 28 kg (~62 lbs).
The SUB is powered by a 250 W Bosch Cargo Performance Line motor, providing a peak power output of 600 W and up to 85 Nm of torque. Plus, two 500 Wh Bosch batteries provide up to 250 km (~155 miles) of assistance range. The pedelec is equipped with ultra-wide 20-in (~51 cm) Schwalbe tires for a stable ride, and four-piston Magura MT-4 hydraulic disc brakes deliver shorter stopping distances, even with heavy cargo.
Despite its cargo-carrying capacity, the SUB is a similar length to a standard bike, measuring 180 cm (~71-in) long. You can collapse the handlebars and pedal to reduce the bicycle's width to 29 cm (~11-in), making it easier to transport or store. You can currently receive the entry-level VELLO SUB e-bike when you pledge £2,999 (~US$3,400) to the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. This model has a single-speed configuration, while the range-topping Titanium is available with gears, costing £4,249 (~US$4,817).
