The GMC HUMMER EV AWD e-bike has been launched. Designed in collaboration with Recon Power Bikes, the company claims it is the world’s first super-electric bike. The electric bicycle has dual 48 V 750 W Bafang motors with a 2,400 W peak power, allowing you to reach a top speed of 28 mph (~45 kph) with over 160 Nm of torque.
You can select from a throttle-only mode and three riding modes; Cruise mode with rear-wheel drive minimises power consumption, Traction mode with front-wheel drive helps you on loose terrain, and Adrenaline mode unlocks all-wheel drive. The standard 17.5 Ah 48 V lithium-ion battery provides 50 miles (~80 km) assistance range and recharges fully in around four hours. You can upgrade to a larger 21 Ah LG battery, though Recon has not specified its extended range estimate.
The bike is fitted with puncture-resistant 4-in tires, four-piston hydraulic brakes and an adjustable front suspension fork for a more comfortable ride. Plus, a color LCD control display shows your speed and battery charge level information. You can currently reserve a standard GMC HUMMER EV AWD e-bike for the starting price of US$3,999. The 21.0 Ah battery model costs US$4,175, and customers who pay the total amount upfront will receive a free pannier bag.
