The Giant Stormguard E+ SUV e-bike has been launched. The electric bicycle has been designed to tackle rougher terrains, with a full suspension system including 100 mm travel front and rear. The bike is powered by a SyncDrive Pro 2 motor which Giant has developed alongside Yamaha. The engine provides up to 85 Nm of torque, and the company claims that the clean carbon belt drive will last up to 10,000 km (~6,214 miles).
Six smart sensors detect your pedalling power and adjust the assistance accordingly. The battery, an EnergyPak 800, has an 800 Wh capacity and can be combined with a 250 Wh range extender to provide up to 200 km (~124 miles) range. A RideDash Evo display can show you information such as speed, distance travelled and battery status. Plus, you can view fitness data, like your heart rate, and connect the gadget to your phone to receive emails, messages and app notifications.
The bike is fitted with Shimano M6120 or Shimano MT420 brakes to help to provide shorter stopping distances. The bicycle can handle up to 156 kg (~344 lbs) payload, allowing you to carry around 20 kg (~44 lbs) of cargo. You can currently buy the Giant E+ electric bike in European countries, including the Netherlands, France and Sweden, for €6,499 (~US$6,716) in sizes from S to XL.
