Rumor | iQOO Neo7 will launch in a bright blue colorway with a periscope zoom lens
The iQOO Neo7 has yet to launch; however, it is said to do so as a new Android smartphone with a top-end MediaTek Dimensity 9000-series SoC, fast charging and a 120Hz display. Now, it has allegedly sneaked its way into a Chinese celebrity's hands ahead of its debut. Should a resulting snap of the device prove genuine, it has a rear camera hump that could have been ported directly from a Vivo X80-series flagship.
iQOO still hasn't delivered on leaks painting the Neo7 as this BBK Electronics brand's vehicle for the new Dimensity 9000+ processor for performance-focused Android devices. However, according to a new leak, the company has offered a pre-launch preview unit to the Chinese entertainer Zhou Shen, who then proceeded to handle the smartphone during a recent live-streamed event.
The famous leaker Digital Chat Station claims to have snapped a shot of the device, and identified it as one yet to be released due to its colorway and rear camera housing. The former resembles one belonging to the existing Neo6; however, the latter seems to have been swapped out for one from the X80 Pro.
That flagship (released by iQOO's immediate parent brand Vivo) has a small square isolated from the main camera island in common with this "Neo7", suggesting that both smartphones have the same periscope zoom lens.
This camera has 5x optical zoom in the X80-series flagship, and may thus have donated the same feature to the Neo7. Should this be the case, it could join a 50MP Sony IMX766V (also a Vivo hallmark) in this upcoming 2022 smartphone, which is also said to boast 120W charging and an FHD+ 120Hz display.
Accordingly, the Neo7 could be prepared to offer a combination of high-end specs from Vivo as well as iQOO with slightly updated silicon for a potentially compelling price.
