New iQOO Z6 launches in China with Android 12 and 80W charging for as little as ~US$250
The iQOO Z6 is technically the 3rd smartphone to launch under that name in 2022. This one seems intended as a China-only release, whereas the other 2 are available in India. The 'new' Z6 is also the second 5G variant of the bunch, rocking a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC to drive its 120Hz, FHD+ LCD display with its 650-nit max brightness and DCI-P3 color-gamut coverage.
However, its most eye-catching spec will probably be the 80W FlashCharge proflie, which, as iQOO claims, can charge the late-2022 Z6's 4,500mAh battery from 0 to 50% in just 10 minutes. The brand has thus ported this nearly industry-leading property to a lower-mid-range smartphone tier with appropriately striking speed with the Z6.
The OriginOS Ocean-powered smartphone has been announced at a price of just 1,699 yuan (~US$249) for an 8GB LPDDR5 RAM/128GB UFS 3.1 internal storage base model. Then again, iQOO has made what might be an easy budgeting decision harder by also launching the Z6x, a phone that is potentially impressively snappy in a different way.
This Z-series alternative variant is the latest smartphone to have a 144Hz display, even if it is also FHD+ and LCD. It is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC and 6 to 8GB of RAM. They are kept on with its series' largest battery to date, although it will not be filling up quite as fast at a maximum of 44W: iQOO's flagship standard not all that long ago.
The Z6x is thus the cheaper of the 2, starting at 1,199 yuan (US$175). Both the Z6 and Z6x come in black, blue or orange shades and can be pre-ordered in China from September 1, 2022.
