MSI introduces Prestige 16 / EVO thin and light business laptops with Intel Alder Lake-P CPUs
MSI is expanding the Prestige lineup of thin and light business laptops with two new models featuring 16-inch displays. Both Prestige 16 and Prestige 16 EVO (Intel EVO standard) variants are powered by Intel’s Alder Lake-P processors and come with a sleek Urban Silver chassis that integrates a patented dual-fan cooling system for quiet operation (max 35 dB). Price and availability have yet to be communicated.
Newly introduced to the Prestige series, the 16-inch displays with Mini-LED panels featured on the non-EVO model are considerably brighter as they get the DisplayHDR 1000 certification. Additionally the maximum supported resolution is set to 2560 x 1600 with 16:10 aspect ratio, the refresh rate is 165 Hz and the DCI-P3 color gamut reaches 100%. The EVO model comes with an FHD+ display, but does not get the HDR certification and color gamut is limited to sRGB 100%.
Another difference between the two models is the graphics solution. The EVO model only relies on the integrated Iris Xe GPU, while the premium model packs an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU with 4 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Otherwise, the two models are powered by the same i7-1280P CPU that is complemented by 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM (soldered) and the storage solution integrates an NVMe PCIe 4.0 X4 M.2 SSD.
Port selection offers 2x Thunderbolt 4 connectors with DP and charging modes, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI video output, audio combo jack, and microSD card reader. Other features include fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, FHD webcam with IR sensor and noise canceling AI-powered mic array, Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.2 connectivity, white backlit keyboard, and 82 Wh battery. Chassis profile measures 16.85 mm and the system weighs 1.9 kg.
