MSI has announced several new thin and light laptops powered by Intel's new Alder Lake-P processors. The MSI Prestige 15 is one of the SKUs that gets a hardware refresh, which also includes an Nvidia dGPU. It is also Intel Evo certified and comes in two colours, Urban Silver and Carbon Gray. It is one of the more affordable options of the lot and hence loses out on some minor QoL upgrades like a 16:10 screen. Prices start at US$1,399 for the entry-level variant and can go as high as US$1,899. Availability will be announced at a later date.
One can configure the MSI Prestige 15 with an Intel Core i7-1280p or a Core i5-1240p. The 28W Alder Lake processors can be paired with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti or a GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. Memory and storage max out at 32 GB of 4,267 MT/s LPDDR4X RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD, both of which are user replacable. The notebook draws power from an 82 Wh battery that supports 100 W fast charging and boots Windows 11 Pro out of the box. It is worth noting that the base model boots Windows 11 Home.
Connectivity options on the MSI Prestige 15 include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, one HDMI port, one SD card reader and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Its power button doubles up as a fingerprint sensor, and the 720p webcam has Windows Hello functionality baked into it. Lastly, the MSI Prestige 15 employs a 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and 72% of the NTSC colour gamut coverage.
