MSI Summit E14 vs. MSI Prestige 14: What's the difference?
MSI has a lot of product names under its belt including the Modern, Prestige, Creator, Katana, Stealth, Raider, Bravo, and Titan just to name a few. Unless if you're a devoted follower of all things MSI or an actual employee, it can get quite difficult to remember what all these model names actually mean. Fortunately, MSI will soon be merging at least a couple of these names to make it a little easier for consumers.
The MSI Modern and Prestige families are both home to the company's prosumer laptops in the same vein as the Dell XPS, Lenovo ThinkBook, or Asus ZenBook series. Earlier this year, however, MSI introduced yet another prosumer laptop family called the Summit series which will eventually replace both the Modern and Prestige names.
The close relationship between the Modern, Prestige, and Summit families also means that these models tend to look alike. The 2020 Prestige 14 and 2021 Summit E14, for example, share similar appearances, ports, and even motherboard layout as shown by the images below. The Summit comes with significantly faster graphics performance and a much brighter display, however, which are the two major under-the-hood upgrades users should keep in mind when deciding between the two models.
See our review on the MSI Summit E14 to learn more about both the minor and major differences between it and the Prestige 14. Summit, Prestige, and Modern laptops continue to be widely available today as the transition to Summit is still ongoing, but potential buyers should be aware that any Modern and Prestige systems out there are older generation systems when compared to the newer Summit systems.
