Vivo's premium sub-brand iQOO has released the Pro, which as it turns out has a 4G variant in addition to the expected 5G-supporting model. It is powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and has up to 12GB of RAM. The Pro runs Monster UI, a new skin for Android 9.0.

iQOO has been linked to the release of a new flagship called the "Pro 5G" for some time now. Despite the nature of its connectivity implied by this name, the Vivo brand sprung a surprise at its launch: a 4G version of the same phone. Both variants boast the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ (or Snapdragon 855 Plus) CPU, in addition to a 6.41-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with an approximate 92% screen-to-body ratio.

The iQOO Pros 5G and 4G have two choices of configuration: one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB in fixed storage, and a second that bumps the RAM up to 12GB. They both have triple rear cameras, in which the main shooter is the 48MP Sony IMX582 shooter. At the front, there is a 12MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

This feature is dubbed Monster Touch by iQOO, which goes with the brand's tagline for premium phones. On that note, the Android 9.0 skin on these new devices has been renamed from Vivo's (almost objectively awful) Funtouch UI to Monster UI. The Pros also have a 4500mAh battery, which is paired with a quick-charging solution with an impressive rate of 44 watts.

An earlier leak suggested that the Pro's pricing scheme might let it down. This is not the case: even the top-tier 5G variant costs 4098 yuan (about US$578), whereas the 8GB version goes for 3798 yuan (~$538). Chinese customers who do not feel the need for next-gen connectivity yet can opt for the 12GB variant at 3498 yuan ($493), or the base model for 300 yuan (about $42) less.

The last 2 choices are available on Chinese retail websites now, whereas the 5G versions will be available from August 29, 2019. Finally, the iQOO Pro is finished in LeMans Blue, Racing Black or Phantom Blue.
