The final touch to its 2022 Neo7 series has most of the same specs as its flagship variant, although it swaps the Dimensity 9000+ SoC for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It may not be the latest or greatest Qualcomm chipset for smartphones out there any more, although iQOO asserts that it is still more than capable of cracking 1.1 million in terms of AnTuTu Benchmark scores.
The brand also claims to have paired the platform with the best cooling system known to the Neo series thus far, with a vapor chamber spanning 4,013mm2 of space within the phone. The 8+ Gen 1 is also boosted with the same Pro+ backup graphics chip apparently exclusively developed by iQOO for the Neo7 series.
Otherwise, iQOO has chosen to swap the Sony IMX766V main camera of the Neo7 for the also-popular ISOCELL GN5. The Racing Edition still runs Android 13 out of the box, although it is skinned with the newer OriginOS 3 rather than the second-gen Ocean version of the Neo7.
Then again, its 5,000mAh battery still charges at 120W, and is thus rated to charge to 100% by just 8 minutes - with the screen off, that is. With the Neo7 Racing Edition's display on, that might extend to about 10 minutes.
The Neo7 Racing Edition can be pre-ordered from now, albeit in China only for now. It is available in the same colors as its Dimensity-based counterpart, and starts at 2,799 yuan (~US$402) for a base 8GB RAM model, with a relatively generous 256GB of internal storage.
