The Neo8 and Neo8 Pro boast the same iQOO hallmark of a remarkably fast 144Hz refresh rate as the brand's first-gen Pad - then again, both new smartphones have been graced with very different 6.78-inch, 1,300-nit 1.5K AMOLED displays. They also feature faster 120W charging technology - however, the Pro variant stands apart as the world's first Dimensity 9200+ vehicle.
In fact, iQOO seeks to outdo potential future rivals in using this new flagship SoC refresh by further augmenting the chipset with a "5K" vapor chamber system and the same V1+ co-processor as the Neo8's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The secondary chipset is there to help out with things such as ISP duty for both new devices.
On that note, the Neo8 series also has OIS- and PDAF-enabled 50MP main cameras across the board - except that it is a "custom" Sony IMX 866VCS in the Pro model. It also has an 8MP ultrawide-angle shooter as a secondary rear-facing lens, compared to a basic 2MP depth sensor in the vanilla variant.
Both models do get iQOO's new "Match Point" red vegan leather finish option, joined by all-glass "Surf" and "Night Rock" alternatives. The Neo8 starts at 12GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage for 2,499 yuan (~US$355), whereas the 8 Pro only has 16GB RAM options.
They have a minimum of 256GB in terms of storage, a configuration with a pre-order price of 3,299 yuan (~US$468).
