iQOO 12 Pro tipped to take leading position in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 race with new 2K 144Hz display
iQOO now has only a few days from today (November 3, 2023) to complete the run-up to its 12 series event, due to the brand's drive to be next to launch new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones in China. This ambition might be why it is racing to that finish line with a preview for the "industry-first" screen to feature in the new line-up.
The 12 series is touted uphold its line's reputation for gaming performance with a combination of new Samsung E7 panels and a "self-developed e-sports" co-processor for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, backed to keep frame-rates as high as possible in advance.
These potentially high-brightness, low-latency yet power-efficient displays are also to be augmented with iQOO's hallmark 144Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the 12 series' "6K ultra-large area vapor chamber", touted as the largest iQOO has made for a smartphone yet, has been unveiled in advance.
These specs have been put to good use on the AnTuTu Benchmark already, according to the leaker Kumamoto Technology. The Weibo account claims to be posting from an "iQOO 12 Pro, outstanding inside and out" (a device tag that does indeed link to an official Vivo product page), used to post a results page showing an ultra-high score of 2,169,893.
Those results are indeed in line with those of other alleged or actual Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-based devices, and in fact beat those set by the "OnePlus 12", not to mention Qualcomm's own reference device.
Accordingly, that would make the alleged "iQOO 12 Pro" second to the "Realme GT5 Pro" thus far. Then again, this unofficial AnTuTu result does not contain any corroborating details about the smartphone, not even the rumored model number from a previous Geekbench run.
Therefore, the iQOO 12 Pro's ability to become the world's next mobile gaming champion remains in doubt until its imminent reveal after all.
