iQOO 12 Pro tipped to launch with performance upgrade and charging downgrade in latest leaks
iQOO has fueled its 12-series hype-train with an advance preview of its new finish options ahead of the smartphones' imminent November 2023 reveal. The brand has gone for a new red vegan leather backing in addition to its traditional BMW M Motorsport-inspired Track and Legend flagship colorways, although this one is touted to stand out from an ever-growing crowd with a unique "wind-swept" texture.
The smartphones set to rock this new look will be known as the 12 and 12 Pro, or the Vivo V2307A and V2329A respectively, according to a new leak. It reportedly comes courtesy of 3C, which has approved both devices to use charging standards that go up to 120W, with no mention of the faster 200W tech that defined the 11 Pro in 2022.
Then again, iQOO might stand ready to spin this apparent charging downgrade in the 12 Pro as its latest sustainability boost: in other words, reducing its charging speed might be hyped as the latest, on-trend way to conserve its battery health in the long term, thereby baking some eco-friendly bragging rights in by default.
In addition, as the "12 Pro's" charging specs also support standard USB-PD rates such as 20V/5A, it stands a better chance of approval for sale outside of China (in the way the 11 Pro never did). Should that be the case, it might be unleashed on the international market as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered device that runs Android 14 out of the box with 16GB of RAM for OnePlus 12-beating performance - according to a new Geekbench leak, that is.
