iQOO 12 Pro set to launch as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered, 144fps gaming, 100X Tele Lens flagship Android smartphone
Vivo's somewhat global spin-off iQOO has asserted its status as an extemely early Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 adopter as hype for its next mobile flagships begin. These successors to the 11 and probably the 11 Pro are also now confirmed as the first to launch with a new design.
New to iQOO, that is, as the enlarged rear panel squircles in question are strongly reminiscent of those of the Xiaomi 14 series, especially in the white BMW M Motorsport-branded finish previewed thus far. Then again, the 12 series' take on this design includes a diamond-cut bevelled edge to its camera hump, not to mention a new "100X Tele Lens" legend for its zoom lens.
This rear camera, as rumor has it, is a "f/2.57 70mm" periscope zoom, to be joined by dual 50MP shooters: a primary module and an ultrawide-angle lens based on the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor. Otherwise, the 12 series' new "1.5K direct gaming screen" is slated to come augmented by a co-processor for its main Qualcomm platform.
This "Q1" chip is touted to interpolate frame-rates in order to help ensure that they reach 144fps in compatible games. This list is allegedly comprehensive and impressive, extending to include Genshin Impact; League of Legends Mobile, PUBG Mobile and PUBG New State thus far.
The iQOO 12 series tipped to pack all this is now ready and set to launch on November 7, 2023 in China, with scope for a timely international debut to follow.
