OPPO Find X6 Pro is tipped to debut with the new Sony IMX890 as an ultrawide-angle camera
The world has already met Sony's new flagship image sensor for smartphones, the IMX989, in its role as the top-end main shooter in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra's colossal camera hump. It is said to be the first of a new line-up that might include interesting, potentially upgraded, subordinates such as the IMX890.
According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, that sensor is poised to become the new go-to ultrawide-angle camera for Hasselblad's latest Android smartphone partner, OPPO.
The OEM is now said to incorporate this new spec, enhanced by the company's own MariSilicon X ISP-slash-NPU, into its next generation of mobile devices, possibly including the successor to the current Find X5 Pro flagship.
This potentially exclusive version of the new CMOS might start there - albeit not as a main camera: that title might go to another sensor, perhaps even the IMX989 itself. Then again, it is also now said to trickle down quite rapidly thereafter to more mid-range OPPO smartphones from 2023 onwards as a primary lens.
This, apparently, might include a upcoming triple-rear-camera device that, while possibly not of the supposedly upcoming Reno9 series, is tipped to share its almost OnePlus 10 Pro-like design and potentially Reno8-like color options.
