Oppo has confirmed that its next Find X flagship smartphone will debut in Q1 2022. The Find X4 Pro or Find X5 Pro will feature the MariSilicon X, an in-house chip that contains an imaging NPU and a 20-bit Imaging Signal Processor.

Oppo has unveiled the MariSilicon X, a chip that combines an ISP, an NPU and a 'multi-tier memory architecture'. The company has manufactured the MariSilicon X on a 6 nm process and claims that it can process RAW files in real-time. Oppo adds that MariSilicon X can also capture '4K AI Night Video' with a live preview.

In a blog post, Oppo explains that the MariSilicon X's NPU delivers 18 trillion operations per second (TOPS) and 11.6 TOPS per watt. In effect, Oppo asserts that its in-house NPU is powerful and energy-efficient. The chip has dedicated DDR memory at its disposal too, with up to 8.5 GB/s bandwidth.

Moreover, it explains that MariSilicon X achieves up to 20x faster AI Noise Reduction performance compared to the current Find X3 Pro. Also, its built-in ISP offers 20-bit 120 db dynamic range, 4x greater than the Find X3 Pro. Incidentally, Oppo mentions that MariSilicon X can handle 20-bit RAW shots and an RGBW PRO mode.

Oppo has confirmed that the MariSilicon X will launch 'with the Find X Series in Q1 2022'. By that, the company means MariSilicon X will debut in the next Find X series flagship. While Oppo has not announced its next flagship's name, it will probably be called the Find X4 Pro or the Find X5 Pro. Typically, Chinese companies avoid using '4' in their product names, but Oppo has with the Reno4 5G, for example.
