Rumor | OPPO is set to release Snapdragon- and Dimensity-powered versions of its 2022 flagship smartphone
OPPO has indicated that it will release a device - possibly of the top-end Find X5 line - with MediaTek's new and potentially Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-challenging Dimensity 9000 platform. The leaker Digital Chat Station now also suggests that this is the case; however, the OEM will also have its cake with a 'Qualcomm Edition' counterpart for this flagship.
As novel as a non-Snapdragon flagship might be for this company, it seems the "Find X5 MediaTek" variant may be at a specific and potentially crucial advantage. Digital Chat Station has also hinted that it might have to do without the MariSilicon X co-processor, a new NPU custom-developed by OPPO to boost photography and other functions in its 2022 line-up.
Accordingly, given the typically camera-centric nature of the Find X series, it is possible that any Dimensity 9000-based iteration would be a vanilla variant, whereas the 8 Gen 1 version would be a successor to the X3 Pro. In addition, the former may, like the Find X3 before it, prove unavailable outside OPPO's native China at launch.
