TCL miniLED smart TV sales increase "significantly" for the third quarter of 2022
MiniLED - also known as mini LED or mini-LED - is emerging as a prominent rival to OLED as a material for some of the newest and highest-end smart TVs on the market. At least, that is the case according to TCL, a company that somewhat justifiably touts itself as a pioneer in this area.
Now, the OEM also asserts that this area of its smart screen business is going from strength to strength, even in the challenging economic conditions of 2022. Its 4K C835 series has been graced with a 2022-2023 EISA award (in the "Premium miniLED TV" category) already, whereas its siblings are said to be "well-received by consumers" thus far.
TCL also indicates that its miniLED sets have taken a sizeable share of the 6.47 million (+11.8% YoY thus far) smart TVs it has sold in 3Q2022 thus far, having just recorded a "significant" growth of 20.1% in 3Q2022 compared to 3Q2021, and a growth of 12.4% YoY for the whole of 2022 thus far.
The OEM also notes that its customer trends are heading upwards in terms of screen size preference, too, as it has sold 63.6% more ≥65-inch units in 3Q2022 compared to 3Q2021.
TCL is also now optimistic about the final quarter of this year (4Q2022), especially with particularly premium TVs such as the new 98-inch Q10G on the market for the holiday season.
