Philips Evnia gaming monitors previewed ahead of late 2022 and early 2023 releases
Philips has previewed four gaming monitors ahead of 2023 releases. While the company has released numerous gaming monitors until now, it has presented the 27M2C5500W, 34M2C7600MV, 34M2C8600 and 42M2N8900 under the new Evnia series. According to Philips, it settled on Evnia as it consists of the Greek words 'eu' and 'nous', which translate as 'well mind' and 'smart thinking'. In a press release, the company explains that 'Evnia' is often used when discussing luck and that it hopes its monitor recreates this by supporting 'the joy of gaming for all'.
Despite being part of the same series, the four monitors differ in numerous areas. Specifically, Philips describes the four as follows:
- Evnia 27M2C5500W: 27-inches, curved, VA
- Evnia 34M2C7600MV: 34-inches, curved, IPS (Mini-LED)
- Evnia 34M2C8600: 34-inches, curved, QD-OLED
- Evnia 42M2N8900: 42-inches, flat, OLED
So far, Philips has provided the most details about the 34M2C7600MV. In the same press release, the company describes the monitor as outputting at 3440 x 1440 pixels with 1,152 local dimming zones. Also, the monitor will deliver a 165 Hz refresh rate with 'ultra-low input lag' and Adaptive-Sync to minimise image tearing. Moreover, the 34M2C7600MV has a USB Type-C port hub, a KVM switch and a height adjustable to boot.
Although Philips has yet to release all details, it has confirmed a few aspects, including pricing and launch dates. On the one hand, the Evnia series starts with the 27M2C5500W at £459.99, which should be available from mid-January 2023. Next up is the 34M2C8600 with a £1,479.99 retail price, followed by the 42M2N8900 at £1,569.99. Supposedly, both these monitors should launch in the same release window. Conversely, the 34M2C7600MV will arrive first, starting in December 2022. However, Philips has priced the monitor at £1,599.99, presumably on account of its superior hardware. You can find more details about the Evnia range on Philips' website.
