OPPO is rumored to drop the variation on its iPhone-mirroring "crate" design for its flagship smartphone rear camera humps for one more like that of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra going forward. Now, it seems that, should this be the case, the 2 devices might share a certain drawback.
The 12S Ultra and "Find X6 Pro" are also projected to have 1-inch sensors as main cameras in common. However, the large round housing now predicted for the upcoming OPPO flagship is expected to protrude from the rest of the rear panel to the tune of about 5 millimeters (mm).
This is a problem, as the renowned leaker Digital Chat Station now claims that an X6 Pro "engineering sample" has a thickness of between 9.3 and 9.4mm, even without the camera hump. This prototype may apparently be finished in ceramic rather than glass, which might help explain this extra depth.
Furthermore, it seems OPPO is mulling an additional variant with a leather backing, which could push its height excluding the camera hump to 9.5mm.
Therefore, while the Find X6 Pro might be one of the most attractive new Android devices in terms of mobile photography in 2023, it might stretch the pocket in more ways than one.
