Xiaomi 13: Leaker describes new 50 MP camera sensor with OIS and 120 W fast charging for upcoming flagship
Digital Chat Station claims to have learned of more Xiaomi 13 details just a few days after Xiaomi confirmed the smartphone’s reliance on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. With the design of the Xiaomi 13 already known, Digital Chat Station asserts that Xiaomi will equip the device with a 1080p AMOLED display rather than a 1220p one like the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro.
Still, the Xiaomi 13 is rumoured to offer a triple 50 MP camera array, which would represent a significant upgrade over the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12T. Reputedly, Xiaomi has turned to a new Sony IMX8 series sensor as the Xiaomi 13’s primary rear-facing camera. The primary camera will be the only sensor supported by optical image stabilisation (OIS) though, despite OIS improving image quality on ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses too.
Additionally, Digital Chat Station believes that Xiaomi will offer the Xiaomi 13 with 120 W fast charging, a feature that even the Xiaomi 12S Ultra missed out on. If that holds true for the Xiaomi 13, then expect Xiaomi to market the device as being capable of recharging within under 20 minutes. Currently, the Xiaomi 13 series is not expected to launch globally until early 2023, but the likes of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro should arrive in China within the first few weeks of December.
