Yogesh Brar has provided specifications for the Edge 40 Pro, a smartphone that is thought to be the global version of the upcoming Motorola X40. Having been spotted on AnTuTu and TENAA ahead of its Chinese release, it may be early 2023 before Motorola introduces the Edge 40 Pro globally. If the Edge 30 Pro is anything to go by, then its successor could launch in late January.
According to Brar, the Edge 40 Pro will arrive with a 4,610 mAh battery that supports 125 W fast charging, with Motorola seemingly retaining the 5,000 mAh version for China. As Motorola has already teased for the X40, the Edge 40 Pro will utilise the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. The Edge 40 Pro will complement the new SoC with 8 GB, 12 GB and 16 GB of RAM, plus a choice between 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage.
Additionally, the Edge 40 Pro will launch with a 1080p display that operates at 144 Hz and measures 6.67-inches across. Separately, Brar asserts that the Edge 40 Pro will offer a 60 MP like its predecessor, along with 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 12 MP telephoto (2x zoom) cameras. The Edge 40 Pro will arrive running Android 13 too, albeit with Motorola’s My UX skin on top.
