Motorola Edge 40 specifications revealed by new leak

It is no secret that Motorola's Moto X40 would arrive globally as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. A Geekbench listing confirmed the information, along with well-renowned leakers. While it may have missed its initially-proclaimed MWC 2023 launch window, the smartphone is bound to hit global shores sooner or later. MySmartPrice has some exciting information about the Moto Edge 40 Pro and its less-talked-about sibling, the Moto Edge 40.

The non-Pro Motorola Edge 40 is yet to be launched in China, so its global launch could likely coincide with its Chinese reveal. As expected, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Moto Edge 40 Pro but packs a respectable 6.5-inch 144 Hz pOLED panel with 1,200 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ certification, FHD+ resolution and a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 is said to feature a yet-to-be-announced Dimensity 8020 SoC. While it could be referring to new MediaTek hardware, there is a good chance it is a typo. It is probably the Dimensity 8200 because MediaTek has yet to launch a Dimensity xx20-branded SoC. 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,400 mAh battery that supports 68 Watts fast charging will be included.

The Motorola Edge 40 aims to cut camera bloat and includes only the essentials, a 50 MP wide-angle lens and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies, there's a 32 MP sensor at the front. Other features include an under-display fingerprint sensor, an optional vegan leather body, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
