Xiaomi 13: Lu Weibing teases new flagship series release later this month

There are only a few days left in November, but Xiaomi may still sneak in a product release before December rolls around. Seemingly, the Xiaomi 13 series could be up next, with Lu Weibing teasing as much on Chinese social media. For reference, Weibing is the President of Xiaomi Group China and oversees the Redmi brand.

To date, it had been assumed that Xiaomi would launch the Xiaomi 13 series next month in December, mirroring last year’s Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X and Xiaomi 12 Pro announcement. However, with Qualcomm unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 a few weeks earlier than it did with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 last year, there had been expectations that we would see the Xiaomi 13 series before Christmas rather than in the final few days of December.

Instead, Weibing hints that the launch of Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphones could coincide with a refresh of its mid-range series. In other words, Xiaomi may have more Redmi Note or Redmi K series smartphones up its sleeves. Xiaomi would need to get its skates on if it wants to get anything out the door this month, though. Typically, the company runs a short teaser campaign before announcing new smartphones, which would need to commence within the next few days at the latest.
